A place to relax and entertain.

For the first phase of this project, we focused on the ground floor of this century home, looking to infuse moments of modernism and tranquility into a very traditional American house. The clients each own a few businesses and have a very busy lifestyle, so we were asked to create a calming and tranquil space for them to come home to.

We set out to do this using the guiding image of a brook within a forest. Blues, greens, and neutral colors, along with a materials palette of woods, ceramics, paper, and natural fibers helped us find this balance between modern and peaceful.

A large Isamu Noguchi paper orb hovers over the custom dining table, which we designed to evoke the movement of ripples in a pool of water. This piece was handmade to our specifications, with grooves radiating out from local river rocks that are placed on the table’s surface.

Other special finishes include ceiling wallpaper designed by a local textile designer, painted Italian tiles surrounding the fireplace, imported wallpaper from England, and handmade a Moroccan Zellige tile backsplash in the kitchen.
