A 90’s fever dream where you can have a cocktail made from concrete.
Chef and friend Brittanny Anderson asked us to help her transform this former studio apartment into an intimate, 18-seat restaurant where she could cook for and chat with her patrons as if she’s having them over for dinner. Her vision? The kind of space that the 90’s girl with Spice Girls posters and fluffy pink bedding might design.
Our process for creating this small dining room and kitchen included designing a custom Moroccan rug and sliding smoked polycarbonate sliding doors to transform the apartment’s bathroom to a restaurant’s powder room. We played with materiality, reflection, and transparency by sourcing bespoke ceramic and polished nickel light fixtures, glass tables, and sand-cast metal chairs.
A 7’ x 10’ collage created by artist Monsieur Zohore, features women in pop culture with food. We suspended it from the ceiling so it would be visible to everyone in the room and add some texture and movement to mirror the rug.
When service starts, daylight is filtered through a large, silver bead curtain which casts unique shadows across the glass tables. As small plates turn into cocktails, shimmering pink and orange cove lights warm the space, creating an intimate and cozy atmosphere.
